Farm Fence
In and around Oklahoma City, OK, agriculture is big business. In the state of Oklahoma there are a multitude of farms, ranches with livestock containment areas. Therein lies the need for a farm fence company to construct fence that secures the animals and establishes good boundaries with neighbors. Metro Fence Installation Company OKC is the top choice for all of your Farm Fence Needs!
Since farm fencing (often called agricultural fencing) is extremely varied in type and application you must be careful to choose the type of fence that suits the specific needs of your livestock portfolio.
For example, paddocks that contain sheep will need different fencing than fields that contain crops. If you have horses, you will need far different farm fencing than if you have smaller animals such as sheep.
Owning a farm can be difficult, but we make securing your perimeter simple.
Considering we have installed countless farm fences in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas, we are acutely aware of the specific requirements for each farm, so you can trust that we will guide you in the right direction when it comes to choosing an appropriate fence for your OKC Metro property.
Ranch Rail Farm Fence
Everyone is familiar with post and rail farm fencing. It is also called “horse fence” occasionally.
It has been the most widely used style of agricultural perimeter fencing in Oklahoma City for generations and will likely continue to be so for many more generations to come.
Ranch rail fencing is typically best suited for horse paddocks and farms that have primarily larger animals. The type of material can vary depending on need but it is normally constructed out of wood (cedar or pine) or PVC (Vinyl Horse Fence) for decorative purposes and steel (square tube or pipe fence) for both decorative and animal securing purposes.
PVC or vinyl fencing is easy to maintain and adds a stunning look to your farm or ranch for years to come. Our vinyl farm fence looks like traditional post and board horse fence that you see all over the OKC Metro but it is weather resistant, easy to clean, and needs virtually little to no maintenance.
The downside of vinyl is that animals can break it fairly easily given their size and weight, so vinyl fences are best suited as decoration. If used as livestock fence, we highly suggest including electric fencing to protect the vinyl fence from breaking. No fencing is completely horse/cattleproof, but PVC fencing does work in most situations when accompanied by electric fencing.
Although wood ranch rail fence is used primarily for decorative purposes, it is stronger than vinyl and can be utilized more by ranchers for securing large animals. Pine or cedar are the two most common types of wood used in wood ranch rail fence construction.
Steel ranch rail fence is by far the best of both worlds. It gives you the beauty of this style of fence and considering it is constructed of welded steel, it is virtually indestructible by farm animals.
Woven Wire Fence
Woven wire fence, often called horse fence, sheep fence, or no climb fence ranges in height from 4’ to 6’. The woven pattern allows the steel wire to stretch and gain tensile strength when tied off on H Braces, also called pull posts. We only offer steel H Braces as it is the best application for outdoor farm fencing.
Barbed Wire Farm Fence
Similar to woven wire fencing, barbed wire farm fences consist of rolls of steel barbed wire that are attached to heavy H-Braces or pull posts and then stretched across long fence lines for tensile strength and attached to T-Posts.
Along with the ability to deter your own livestock from exploring the possibility of venturing out of your farm, this style of fence also keeps large farm animals off of your crops.
We recommend barbed wire fencing as your primary solution to securing your OKC Metro farm or ranch as it is incredibly effective at securing your enclosure and maintaining boundaries. It is very cost effective when a large boundary fence is needed.
